Flyin' West

Flyin' West

Directing

Set in 1898, Flyin’ West follows a group of African American women who leave the oppression of the South to build new lives in the all-Black town of Nicodemus, Kansas. As they strive for independence, land ownership, and self-determination, they confront personal struggles, family conflicts, and the lingering violence of racism. Cleage’s powerful drama celebrates resilience, sisterhood, and the fight for freedom on the western frontier.
