Mission Statement
The Communal Theater Company exists to create spaces of healing, connection, and communion through theater. We present live productions that enrich culture, entertain with purpose, and inspire the communities we serve. At the same time, we are committed to cultivating the talents and skills of theatermakers through workshops, training, and collaborative practice—ensuring that our work not only tells stories, but also nurtures the storytellers themselves.

Sisterplay
SisterPlay is Liz’s newest work—a raw, intimate exploration of love, loss, and resistance. The play tells the story of her younger sister, Lisa, who died in 2016 while in custody at the Salt Lake County Jail. Through memory, poetry, and protest, SisterPlay confronts Liz’s devastating grief while reclaiming Lisa’s humanity. More than a personal narrative, it’s an activist work that exposes the systems, culture, and apathy that contributed to Lisa’s death—and calls urgently for change.
Performances in 2026 in New York City & Salt Lake City.
